The Grey Squirrel (Sciurus carolinensis) often invades lofts, particularly during the breeding seasons in early spring and late summer.

As well as being incredibly noisy to share a house with squirrels, as with rats, can be very destructive, damaging roofs and chewing through cables. The only rodenticide licensed to use in controlling squirrels is the multi-dose bait warfarin which usually requires around 10 days of continuous uptake to build up to lethal doses in a squirrel.

Due to this limitation as well as the environmental impact of poisoned carcasses it is usually most appropriate to attempt to trap squirrels using powerful and humane Fenn, Kania tube traps before resorting to baiting.

As with rats and mice, proofing measures are usually critical in preventing re-infestation.
