Bed bugs are insects that, as adults, have oval-shaped bodies with no wings. Prior to feeding, they are around 1cm long and paper thin. After feeding, they turn dark red and become engorged. Eggs are whitish, oval-shaped and around 1-2mm long. Clusters of eggs can be found in cracks and crevices, particularly on and around bed frames and mattresses. Bedbugs typically live for around a year during which time a female can lay hundreds of eggs under ideal conditions. Eggs hatch in around 10 days. Bed bugs prefer to feed on human blood, but will also bite other mammals and birds.

THE KEY TO A SUCCESSFUL TREATMENT IS AN EXTREMELY THOROUGH JOB!

If a bedbug treatment is approached in the same manner as a flea treatment then the insects may be largely unaffected or worse dispersed throughout a property making eradication far more difficult. Depending on the severity of the infestation a further treatments at 28 day intervals may be required after the initial application to eradicate any bugs that may have hatched from stray eggs unavoidably missed by the initial pre-spray cleansing. In the majority of treatments however we pride ourselves on eradicating the issue with one treatment only. Pre-treatment we usually only ask that clients hot wash and securely store all bedding before we arrive to allow unhindered access to bed frames. We thoroughly steam and dismantle furniture if necessary prior to the application of the most suitable insecticides combined with ULV fogging where needed.
